How we started

Tiny Owls Baby Home started in the home of Kim and Wayne Allen in September 2018 with the conversion of a triple garage to a nursery. Their first baby was received on 15 October 2018 and within 2 months the nursery filled to the maximum capacity of 6.

We have a purpose built nursery that is large enough to accommodate 6 babies. It includes individual cots, large changing station, built-in bath and facilities for staff.

About the Founders

Kim and Wayne Allen have 4 biological and 3 adopted children. Having experienced the adoption process a number of times, they became aware of enormous number of children in need of permanent, loving families. Wanting to do more, they decided to create a place of safety for children who are being placed for adoption.

Kim is the CEO of Tiny Owls and looks after their 7 children. Wayne works in financial administration and provides the back office support to Tiny Owls. They both serve on the Chanan54 board – an NPO that serves the orphaned and vulnerable children of South Africa through advocacy and funding.
